Keto Chocolate Milk Recipe

Keto Chocolate Milk Recipe

Inspired by the demand for a delicious chocolate treat, we created a rich chocolate sauce that serves as the perfect base for various recipes, including this delightful chocolate milk. This sauce is essential for anyone wanting to enjoy chocolate milk without compromising their ketogenic lifestyle or blood sugar levels.

All the ingredients used in this recipe are selected with a ketogenic diet in mind, ensuring they do not raise blood sugar and are safe for people with diabetes, including those who are pre-diabetic, type 2 diabetic, or type 1 diabetic

Diabetic Friendly Chocolate Milk

Diabetic Friendly Chocolate Milk

The ingredients for a tasty chocolate milk recipe that won’t raise blood sugar must be low in carbs. Cow’s milk is generally high in carbs (with the exception of lactose-free milk which is a little lower in carbs/sugar). Alternate options are unsweetened nut milks (we like almond or macadamia milk), or a half-and-half combo of heavy cream and water (this may be a little too thick for some people.

Milk Options for Sugar Free Chocolate Milk

Let’s review how many net carbs are in each serving of different milk varieties.

Carbs in Whole Milk

There are around 12 grams of carbohydrates in 8oz of whole milk derived from a cow.

Carbs in Lactose Free Whole Milk

There are around 6 grams of carbohydrates in 8oz of Lactose-Free whole milk from a cow. Lactose free usually means that the enzyme lactase has been added.

Carbs in Unsweetened Macadamia Milk

While I don’t think nut “milks” should be called milk… (it’s water) – however, that’s what we call them. There are around 1 gram of carbs in 8oz of unsweetened Macadamia milk.

Carbs in Unsweetened Almond Milk

There are around 1.5 grams of carbs in 8oz of unsweetened Almond milk.

Carbs in Heavy Cream & Water

We love this option for our Keto hot cocoa mix. However, when you mix heavy cream and water (and don’t warm it up for a hot drink) it tends to be a little too thick. However, you might love it. There is 1g net carb in an 8oz glass of 50/50 heavy cream and water.

Sugar Free Chocolate Milk

Sugar Free Chocolate Milk

The key to making this recipe suitable for a sugar-free diet is the use of a high-quality zero sugar chocolate sauce.

To prepare, simply mix your choice of milk with the zero sugar chocolate sauce in a cup of at least 8oz capacity, leaving some room to stir.

For the best results, stir vigorously until the chocolate sauce is fully integrated with the milk. This process is made easier with an immersion blender or stick blender, but you can also use a glass jar or shaker with a tight-fitting lid and shake well to combine.

Yield: 1 serving
Prep Time: 2 minutes
Total Time: 2 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8oz Milk, of your choice (see notes)
  • 1-2 Tbsp Zero Sugar Chocolate Sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine milk and chocolate sauce in a cup that is at least 8oz capacity (preferably a little larger to have room for stirring).
  2. Stir vigorously until thoroughly combined. This is easier with an immersion blender or stick blender. Alternately, you can use a glass jar or shaker jar with a lid, close tightly, and shake well to combine.
  3. If 1 tablespoon isn't chocolatey enough for you, add another tablespoon. I personally prefer 2 tablespoons for an extra chocolatey experience.
  4. Enjoy cold.
